Climbing grading systems are generally separated into three categories, with straight-forward translation within a category, and constrained translations between categories. Different grading systems are not perfectly aligned only rough translations can be made, especially since the act of grading itself is subjective.

The system used in the US is called the V-Scale (Verm or Vermin).
